How to Create a Winning Mindset

Updated: Feb 4, 2023

How often have you started something with the best intentions, only to give up when it becomes difficult? Whether it is working out, eating better, or trying to follow through on a New Year's resolution, we've all been there. So, what separates those who succeed from those who do not? It all comes down to mindset. A winning mindset is essential if you want to achieve any big or small goal. Here are four tips to help you get started:

  1. Believe in yourself – This may seem like common sense, but it is essential! You need to honestly believe that you can accomplish whatever you are setting out to do. Otherwise, why bother putting in the effort?

  2. Set your intention – Be clear about what you want to achieve. Then, write it down and read it aloud daily until it becomes second nature.

  3. Develop a plan – Once you know your goal, reverse-engineer the necessary steps. For example, what should be done daily/weekly/monthly? Then take action and stick with it!

  4. Surround yourself with supportive people – This one is key! Find others who will encourage and motivate you along the way; walking (or running) together will make the journey much more enjoyable (and likely successful!).

Creating a winning mindset is challenging, but it is possible with effort and commitment. So, give these tips a try and see how they work for you!

Define what success means to you – get specific and write it down

Defining success is a crucial step in achieving it. It means recognizing and valuing your unique skills, capabilities, and values, setting clear goals for yourself, and crafting a plan to reach them. To me, success is striving for excellence in everything I do and feeling proud that I am working towards making real change in the world. Determining success for yourself means writing down your goals and evaluating whether you are living out your dreams. Knowing what success means to you can help you focus on taking steps toward them with confidence. It does not matter if it's big or small - define what success looks like to you, break it down into achievable milestones, and start the journey!

Set yourself some big, hairy, audacious goals (BHAGs) that excite and inspire you

If you want to make a real difference in your life, setting yourself some big, hairy, and audacious goals (BHAGs) is a great start! After all, how can you expect to change your life if you do not dream big? BHAGs gives you something concrete to work towards and can be the perfect motivator for you to achieve success. Sometimes it takes work to stay motivated, but BHAGs provide an excellent structure for ensuring that whatever your dreams happen to be, they remain within reach. Make sure these goals excite and inspire you, taking on challenges that ignite passion and creative energy so that each day brings a renewed sense of optimism and enthusiasm. So do not wait - get out there and set yourself some BHAGs today!

Create a vision board or mood board to help keep your goals top of mind

Consider creating a vision board or mood board to stay motivated and inspired to achieve your goals. These boards are powerful tools that serve as daily reminders of our aspirations. By curating images, quotes, and sayings that pertain to our goals, we can easier visualize success and stay grounded in our original why - the purpose behind why we are pushing for a specific goal or concept. Although these boards may seem simple on the surface, they can be highly effective in both manifesting the life we want and reminding ourselves of what matters most. Try making one today and see how it helps you keep your goals top of mind!

Write affirmations that focus on what you want to achieve, not what you do not want

Achieving our goals requires us to focus on what we want. That is why using affirmations can be a powerful way to remind ourselves of our desires and keep us motivated. Writing affirmations that focus on what we want to achieve rather than what we do not will give clarity and specificity and create a feeling of certainty and direction toward attaining our goals. First, ask yourself, what do I really want out of this? Then, write positive statements for yourself, confident that your dreams will become a reality. Follow Tony Robbin's advice - replace "I don't want to…" with "I now release and let go of the fact that…." By applying this approach, we internalize positive messages that drive our behavior and push us toward great success!

Surround yourself with people who support your dreams and who will hold you accountable

Having a solid support system is integral to achieving your dreams. Surrounding yourself with people who will listen, encourage, and motivate you is half the battle. Make sure that these people also hold you accountable for your actions - it can inspire you to turn those visions into realities! Making this positive change does not have to be challenging; why not start by forming your dream squad? Reach out to influential people in your field or profession, join a networking group full of extraordinary individuals, or find someone to hold you accountable regularly. The possibilities are nearly endless. Let us take control of our lives and start forming dream team’s together - what do you say?

Practice gratitude by writing down three things you are thankful for each day

Taking a few minutes each day to practice gratitude can work wonders for our mental and physical health! Writing down three things we are thankful for gives us a significant opportunity to reflect on all the blessings in our lives and can be a great way to combat stress. In addition, research has proven that gratitude can improve our physical well-being by boosting our immunity - it just takes a few moments each day to transform your life! Taking the time to appreciate what we have is one of the most powerful tools available, so do not put it off - start practicing gratitude today!

Success is attainable if we first understand what success looks like, set inspiring goals, and implement systems to help us stay focused on our objectives. With hard work and dedication, anything is possible. By writing down three things we are grateful for each day, we can shift our mindset from a scarcity to an abundance mentality, opening up even more opportunities for us. We attract who we are, so it is essential to surround ourselves with people who reflect our desired success level. Tony Robbins says that success is achieved by "doing the things that most people won't do." What are you willing to do to achieve your version of success? It is up to you to make it happen. So now is the time to start living your best life!

To stay on track with your dreams, create a plan and set yourself up for success. Understand what success looks like to you, write down your goals and review them regularly, cultivate a supportive team around you, practice gratitude by writing three things you are thankful for each day, and focus on the positive. Doing these simple steps can help get us closer to achieving our dreams!
